Our curriculum is based on the official BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers) framework and refined through years of experience with international learners. Prior to being taught by Dhona, I had very limited Indonesian conversational abilities. I lacked a lot of confidence in holding conversations and really wanted to improve. Dhona has really helped me in re-learning the language. Her teaching methods are thorough and well planned out, and she makes learning a language so much fun. The teaching materials she provides are also very comprehensive and makes it easier to understand certain specific elements of the Indonesian language. And at the same time has taught me about Indonesian slang and the culture. Massive thank you to her for being so patient and helping me a lot in feeling more confident in speaking Indonesian.

Almost a year ago, I started my Bahasa Indonesia classes with Nadia and Sari at BasaBasa Learning Centre. My main motivation for learning the language was to be able to participate more fully in daily life in Indonesia and to communicate with my neighbors and my boyfriend’s family. After a year of classes, I can confidently say that my Bahasa skills have significantly improved. I’m now able to hold simple daily conversations and understand the grammar, which helps me feel more connected and involved in everyday life.
One aspect I really appreciate about the classes is the structure. The teachers always begin by asking about my recent activities and daily experiences. This approach helps me focus on vocabulary and phrases that are directly relevant to my life, making it much easier to remember and apply what I’ve learned.
In addition to teaching the language, my teachers also share insights into Indonesian culture, customs, religions, and local regulations. This cultural context has made it much easier for me to integrate and truly understand life in Indonesia.
Overall, I have only positive things to say about these classes. I feel my language skills are improving every week, and I would highly recommend BasaBasa to anyone looking to learn Bahasa Indonesia in a structured, supportive, and culturally rich environment.
